Srinagar: The family members of three youth from Rajouri district of Jammu who were allegedly killed in a fake encounter on July 18 at Amshipora Shopian have alleged that authorities were unnecessarily delaying the results of DNA samples collected some 12 days ago for cross-matching.
“In these advanced times, DNA reports come hardly in two to three days but it has been 12 days since they have taken the samples and we are yet to receive any information from administration,” Muhammad Yousuf, father of one of the slain youth Abrar Ahmad, Kashmir News Observer on Monday.
The three families have been waiting for the authorities to come up with the results but the times are getting tougher for them with each passing day. With no resolution in sight, families have planned to contact higher authorities once again to press for the results of DNA samples.
“So far we were cooperating with authorities but now they are testing our patience. We can’t wait more and it is a matter of our three innocent sons. We will try to meet the higher officials for a speedy report,” said Yousuf.
“If they are serious about investigation then they should come up with DNA matching reports,” he said while speaking on behalf of two other slain youth — Imtiyaz Ahmed and Abrar Ahmed.
The families have requested police and authorities to have a background check of all the families and if they can prove the slain as militants they have full rights over them.
“I am once again asking authorities if they prove our kins as militants, I will myself exhume their bodies and ask the army to shoot them again. But if they can’t prove, then give us justice without wasting our time and testing our patience,” Yousuf said. KNO
