Pulwama: A 20-year-old labourer drowned in river Jhelum while he was extracting sand in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday morning.
An official told Kashmir News Observer that a group of men were extracting sand from Jhelum at Karnabal Kakapora area of Pulwama on Wednesday.
However, he said that a labourer identified as Irshad Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, of Larow Kakapora slipped and fell into the river.
“Those who were present at the spot jumped into the river to save the labourer.”
The official said that the body is yet to be retrieved and efforts are on to retrieve him. KNO
