Fresh recruited militant arrested in Bandipora, second in a day

Fresh Al-Badr recruit arrested in Shopian

Srinagar: Police has claimed to have arrested a newly recruited militant in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

In a statement, police said in a joint operation in Bandipora along with security forces, they have arrested one militant of LeT and recovered live arms and ammunition from his possession.

“Based on a specific input regarding presence of militants for subversive activities, a joint CASO was conducted in Chek Chandrageer area of Hajin town by Bandipora police, 13RR, and C Coy IRP 8th Bn. One militant namely Subzar Ahmad rather alias Aatish Bhai resident of Awneera Shopian was apprehended,” the statement said.

“Incriminating material along with live arms and ammunition ( one 9mm pistol along with pistol magazine and 4 live rounds) were recovered from the possession of the said person,” it said, adding that “the militant had joined LeT recently and was tasked to carry out subversive activities in and around Hajin locality.”

The statement further said that “in this connection, FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Hajin and investigation has been initiated. GNS
