Srinagar: Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has alleged that she was denied permission to visit the grave of his grandfather at Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Iltija, who is operating her mother’s Twitter handle these days, accused that her visit is being looked through a security prism while two formers Chief Ministers who are SSG protectees are being allowed to visit places like Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
Iltija Mufti, in a tweet, said that she was ‘yet again’ denied permission by Police to visit her grandfather’s grave in Bijbehara. She said, “[it is] odd that it is safe enough for other SSG protectees including 2 former Chief Ministers to make trips to Gulmarg and Pahalgam but a security problem arises only in my case.”
Tagging SSP Anantnag, Sandeep Chaudhary, she questioned police asking why a ‘different yardstick’ is used in her case.
“Citing COVID as a reason is an excuse. I have been denied permission since January. I am simply being punished for speaking against Government of India’s ruthless actions in J&K. Last I checked it was Ms Mufti who was detained under PSA, not both of us,” she tweeted.
